Rodocrosita

It is Argentina's National stone. The rodocrosita has an attractive structure and a pink coloration that has turned it into one of the most glitzy stones in the world. It is a volcanic stone found in the Sierras Capillitas (Catamarca's Province) at 3,000 meters high and it got its name from the combination of two Greek words: rose and color.

Manganese's Carbonate determines the intense pink or purple color of the stone; and because of its composition, it is used industrially for obtaining magnesium carbonate in the steel industry. It is also used as a decorative stone, as a semi-precious stone, as collectors item, as crystal or in slices of stalactites.

This stone has produced great scientific interest because it is relatively soft and it is possible to polish.
